A shimmering ripple appeared in the sky—a tear in reality. It was the wormhole they had fallen through, but it was shrinking. On the horizon, a massive storm cloud of gold dust was approaching. It wasn't sand. It was a swarm of metallic, stingray-like creatures: the Tritovores' nightmare, the Stingrays of the Swarm. He slammed two wires together
They soared toward the shrinking blue rift in the sky. Behind them, the first of the stingrays slammed into the sand where the bus had been seconds before.
"Then we close it," Christina said, pulling a set of high-tech tools from her pocket. "I was planning on stealing the Cup of Aethelstan today. Closing a dimensional rift seems like a fair trade."
They weren't alone. A handful of London commuters were wandering out of the vehicle, squinting at the three suns. Among them was Nathan, a young man clutching a backpack, and Angela, a woman who had just been trying to get home to her kids.
